The Fear of the LORD

What does the “fear God” look like?

To fear God is to shun evil.  God’s testimony of Job was “he was a man who feared God and shunned evil, “( Job 2:3 and Proverb 8:13).
To fear God is to have wisdom (Psalm 111:10).
To fear God is to have knowledge (Proverb 1:7).
The fear of the LORD results in longevity of life  (Proverb 10:27).
To fear God is to have confidence, life, riches and honor (Proverb 14: 26 – 27, 19:23, 22:4).
Isaiah prophesied of the coming Messiah as one who “feared the LORD” and “delight in the fear of the LORD” (Isaiah 11: 2 – 3).  If Christ Himself was full of this virtue how much more we who desire to be Christ like must earnestly purpose to walk in the fear of the LORD.
“Holy Spirit fill us this day with an adulterate fear of the LORD.  The same way you rested upon Christ rest upon us this day.  Teach us the fear of the LORD that we may be filled with your life.”
